The Title Deed to Earth.

Revelation Chapter 5 – 'What Adam [ forfeited ] and satan gained possession of.'

Revelation Chapter 5

1And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

2And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

3And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

4And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

To help us fully appreciate and understand the scene that unfolds before us here in Revelation chapter 5,

it is necessary for us to go back to the Old Testament – to the Old Testament prophet, Jeremiah.

One of Jeremiah’s main prophecies was that of the fall of Jerusalem. He also prophesied, though, of the eventual restoration of the nation of Israel in the Promised Land. For his prophesies, Jeremiah was imprisoned. During his imprisonment, God commands Jeremiah to do something that – to most – would have seemed ridiculous especially given the circumstances. Read Jeremiah 32:6-15.

God instructs Jeremiah to redeem property from his cousin – property that was currently under the control of Babylon. This was to serve as a sign – a picture – that, even though the nation of Israel was being destroyed and the Israelites taken into captivity, that one day, God would restore them in the Promised Land.

While the nation of Israel is, once again a nation, their full restoration has yet to be experienced. Their full restoration, as God spoke of to Jeremiah, will not take place until the time of the Tribulation which now brings us to Revelation chapter 5.

The Title Deed to Earth is Produced

The book/scroll which God holds in His hand (5:1) is the title deed to earth. This book is really a scroll that, as it was rolled up, was sealed at various intervals with a total of seven seals. The earth is permanently God’s possession by right of creation. Nothing can ever alter that fact. But, just as an Israelite could sell or lose his land for a time – as in the case of the Israelites when they were taken captive by the Babylonians – so apparently Adam lost his God-given dominion over the earth. satan became the “god of this world.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)

{{ But this is only a temporary situation..}}

As we see in Revelation chapter 5, The time has come for the Rightful Owner to take possession of that which is rightfully His!

The question is asked, “Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?” (5:2) In other words, “Who has the legal authority to claim possession of the earth?”

{ John wept when the rightful owner was not found. } He sobbed convulsively...

The Rightful Owner is Found

Do you know which king of Judah had Jeremiah imprisoned? Read 2 Chronicles 36:11-21.

Zedekiah was the last king to sit upon the throne of David. There has not been a king to sit upon the throne and rule the nation of Israel since that time.

The throne of David has been empty since that time.

Now, here in Revelation chapter 5, Jesus Christ, “the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David,” has stepped up as the rightful owner and taken hold of the title deed to earth! HALLELUJAH !

Proof that the Rightful Owner has been Found.

What gives Christ the right to take possession of the earth? Read Revelation 5:8-10.

Christ was slain and has redeemed mankind by His blood.

Daniel saw this same event that we have recorded for us in Revelation chapter 5…

“I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

“And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.” Daniel 7:13-14

Read Revelation 5:13-14. Jesus Christ is worthy to claim the title deed to earth and He is worthy of our worship now. With our whole lives we should worship him.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Acts 20:28

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Ephesians Chapter 1

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
